About the Project
With contemporary culture’s heightened interest in all things culinary, food-themed courses at museums have been immensely popular, allowing participants to approach different periods of art history through the lens of each period’s food culture. The museum courses devised by Robin include a presentation on historical context, exhibition tours of original artworks, hands-on cooking workshops using authentic period recipes, and shared multi-course meals.
Seeking to expand this celebration of art and culinary history, Robin and her colleagues are offering this experience to a far wider audience through a book project that can be complemented on a number of other digital platforms.
Highlighting some of the fascinating exhibition themes that curators have mounted over the years, Robin is featuring eight themes as a springboard for discussion. The project will focus on the centuries-old intertwining of the visual and culinary arts that is practical, visually stunning, informative, and DELICIOUS!
