I recently downloaded Second life in an effort to explore the game for fun and curiosity. Now I find myself trapped in its disgusting claws. When I’m not playing the game I’m thinking about playing the game and when I sleep I dream about playing the game. What the hell!? What have I become? Any decent gamer will tell you that Second life is a place where perverts meet to rub their fetishes together and shoot their sticky creepiness all over the proverbial chest of common decency. The sad thing is that is exactly why I love it!
This is how Linden Labs describe their game on the Second life website:
Second Life is a free online virtual world imagined and created by its Residents. From the moment you enter Second Life, you’ll discover a fast-growing digital world filled with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity.
This is true. However it’s curious to see how Linden Labs (successfully) dodge the real reason why many are playing it. In reality, the big appeal of Second life is because of all the sex. To me it’s nothing less than a Cyber Sex Massively Multiplayer Online Game (CXMMOG). Linden Labs is an interesting company because they seem to be perfectly fine with that. They reserve the right to ignore the existence of hard core bestiality clubs and demonic cum buckets, but they know. I believe the key to the success of Second life is Linden Labs ability to look away and let their users do whatever the fuck they want!
As a CXMMOG, Second life is king. It’s not a pretty game, but far from ugly. Additionally, there is a context to the graphics that you can only appreciate once you’ve played it. What I’m trying to say is: don’t knock the graphics. They’re fine for that they are. You have near infinite possibilities when it comes to customizing your avatar and if you know what you’re doing you can easily create a relatively attractive one. Free nude skins are easy to find and once you have that you can start having sex! That said, the appeal of sex in Second life is not in pretty avatars, but the the actual people controlling them. Sharing a masturbatory experience with someone who’s just as perverted as you is not only fun but can be very rewarding.
My avatar is an equine hermaphrodite; a woman with horse genitalia. Sometimes I’m a woman. Sometimes I’m a full blown horse, depending on my mood. To the common man this sounds incredibly gross, but in the world of Second life she is incredibly popular! Women and men alike literally form a line to get fucked by her. All I have to do is stand someplace with it hanging out and people will talk to me. In reality, it is just a ridiculously sized blob of polygons, but in the context of Second life it’s a real opportunity for people to experience horse sex in a safe environment.
The average Second Life player (in the cyber sex hemisphere) is typically pretty weird. There are also a surprising amount of actual women playing. You can never know for sure whether someone is female or not, but it’s easy to spot the tells.
Women are usually more "normal" than the men. They’re really into bonding through conversation and the act of sex. They like big cocks (no surprise) and the idea of being having their pussies completely filled and stretched (something they rarely experience irl, I imagine). Some of them like to dominate (whips and that shit). Many like to be submissive. Again, Second life is a safe environment to experiment without risking physical harm.
The men comes in a wide range. If I could draw up a testosterone spectrum, on one side you’d have the gay men who simply likes big cocks, comparable to the women I described above. They’re generally kind and caring individuals. On the other side are the sadomasochistic bastards who enjoy humiliating their women and punching them into submission. Y’know, like this guy. I have little patience with these ass holes and their behavior often insults me. But if you’re into that shit, Second life enables that too. Like I said, some girls actually enjoy being on the receiving end.
I should probably point out that I will have sex with male players in Second life, but I’m not gay. To me, I don’t live the character I’m playing. I have full control over her, but I’m also a spectator. So either I’m watching a lesbian encounter (which is always hot) or a straight one, which is perfectly okay with me and still exciting. The unspoken rule in Second life is "don’t ask, don’t tell". Sticking to that rule makes everyone happy.
Lastly, I wish to address the issue of pedophilia. I am all for lolicon for the simple reason that I love everything cute and that it’s not real. Sexually abusing real children is something entirely different and I stand behind the law on that. Due to problems with pedophilia in the past, Linden Labs now takes a zero tolerance approach on sexual age play. You are able to create a child avatar as long as you don’t engage in sexual activities. This is one of their short list of rules and they enforce it hard.
Unfortunately, I have a very curious and exploratory personality and I wanted to see for myself where the pedophilia community is hiding. There are plenty of groups for incestual role-playing, but for legal reasons they keep it strictly between adult avatars. To find the real child play I had to go under cover. I created an 8 year old girl avatar and made her look as innocent as I could. She looks like a little princess, complete with pink dress and bow. Then I’d search for the dirties sex club I could find and just sit there in the environment, not saying anything or interacting with the other player. It generally takes around 2-3 minutes before someone strikes up a conversation with her. Around 20% of those will tell her to leave. The rest will take the role of an authority figure and attempt to trick her into following them home, or into their van. You get the idea.
Pedophilia does exist in SL, but the offenders are not just men, or even pedophiles.
One interesting thing I discovered after meeting all of these clearly pedophilic men was that they weren’t necessarily pedophiles at all. When asked, one guy said he didn’t even like children, rather he was attracted to the taboo and, again, dominating something innocent and submissive. I’ve only met one person in Second Life who were genuinely attracted to my child avatar purely for her childish looks and she was a woman! No one ever assumes I’m a real 8 years old (perhaps it’s my perfect spelling) and they often seem more comfortable once knowing my real age. It’s goes from "I don’t know why I did this" to "Oh good! Write me if you want to play again!". I think it’s important that we remind ourselves that this is just a game and that it’s not real.
So far I haven’t found any organized pedophilia in Second Life. It all comes down to individuals and their affinity to break taboos. Overall the players in Second Life have very little tolerance for child avatars in general.
If you’re as perverted as I am, you owe it to yourself to at least try this game. It’s an opportunity to be as filthy as you like, with friends!
Disclaimer: No actual children were harmed or otherwise involved in the events that let to this blog post. Relax, people!
LOL. I have to admit, your insights into the more carnal aspects of SL are pretty much spot on.
But I can tell you, as someone who’s been a part of the Second Life community for four years now, it’s not always about the sex. SL is, for me, another place where I can meet people and make a bunch of new and awesome friends. And for the most part, I have more fun just hanging around with them and doing silly things than I do with anything sexual.
I’m also interested in letting you meet me in SL. Unlike most of the guys you find in SL, I like to think I have a pretty decent male avatar. *Laughs* If you ask nicely, maybe I’ll tell you my SL name. We’ll see, eh?
All in all, you hit on some of the finer points to the naughty side of SL. *Chuckles* As for me…well, I won’t deny the fact that I -am- a pervert, yes..but I’ll say that almost all of the things that people seem to get off on in SL (the weird BDSM fetishes, the pedo-rape, etc..) aren’t really my cup o’ tea, and for the most part, I just like to relax, have fun, and be silly with some friends I know…many of which happen to be extremely talented builders and scripters in Second Life.
Anyhow, that’s all from me. *Chuckles* ..Send me an email and ask nicely for my SL name and I just might let you know it.
I played SL for a while. Lost interest cause I could never find anything to make my avatar look good, sure, at first I’m all like, hey thats not bad, then five minutes later I’m like awe crap I look terrible when someone better looking walks by and sense bitch slaps my brain back into place.
Dodging that problem I’ve found myself utterly bored hunting for places with any level of entertainment. Look for places with moderate population and a good name popping in only to find the entire populous is just afk people raking in the free cash. In the end before I quit playing and gave up my source of entertainment was exploring and finding ways to break things and poking holes in inferior security/psuado security.
When I do actually run into someone who doesn’t just hump my leg and walk away my eyes bleed at the illegible posts they make. I feel utter jealous lothing for people like you who have had a chain of success in finding good items, good conversation, and the darkest, dirtiest things of SL. I can find anything on the internet, but when it comes to SL, I’m as lost and idiotic as a /r/questor on 4chan.
